A Tranquil Bath

Making time to run a tranquil bath can be difficult. Make time.

Loud noises, demands and wintery weather outside. Day to day life can all get a bit much and
sometimes the best way to reach our tranquil state again is a nice, hot, toasty bubble bath.

Heating up your pyjamas and a fluffy, clean towel on the radiator whilst bathing is a way to be kind to yourself and make sure the transition out of your warm bath is into nice warm clothes rather than a soggy and wet, cold towel. Always make sure that your bath isn't too hot because once in and settled you will be too hot and won't be able to enjoy it as much! Toasty is best. I always enjoy a glass of water or a cup of tea in the bath - combining my two loves - bathing and tea time into one. Doing this also gives you something to do in your intervals of relaxing in the bath. So, light your favourite candle to create an ambience, pour some moisturising bubble bath or simply drop in a bath bomb into your bath, heat up your towel and unwind into a bubbly, warm cosy heaven.

Here are some of my product recommendations for your bathing unwind night :

  • Johnsons baby bath and shower gel - The Pink one. Milky and soft this bubble bath has a very delicate scent and will help you sleep at night and will also soften your skin

  • Neom bath oils - Revive. A richer and more powerful smell, a few drops of this once you have run your bath will do just fine, Filling the air with a sensual smell this is a lovely product to have in your bath.

  • The White Company - Wild mint candle. A fresh and simplistic scented candle, which is perfect for your bath time. Not over pouring or sickly a beautifully blended scent

  • Lush bath bombs - For a sweeter and maybe more uplifting smell at bath time. Any of Lush's products are a real treat at bath time and a real indulgence.

I hope this has inspired you to be kind to yourself and you are just about to go and start running this dreamy bath. Treat yourself nicely and make time for yourself.

No seriously, I mean literally Lush!

                                                                          Lush

synonyms:luxuriant rich abundant superabundant profuse exuberant riotous prolific teeming flourishing thriving vigorous
Walking down Princes Street I was drawn to the smell of baby powder, flowers, fruit and the sight of chalkboard signs with bold white swishy writing printed all over them. This of course led me to the bath and beauty shop Lush.

As you go through the doors you are welcomed by friendly and eccentric people who too all have a passion for beautifully scented products... It's almost like a club. You are also welcomed into the shop by that iconic Lush smell... the one everybody knows

There are so many beautiful products which you can take your time smelling, touching and testing which of course makes the shopping experience 100 X better!!

Once into the shop I spent a good solid 10 minutes at the bath bomb counter, deciding which bath bomb I'd like to treat myself too.  There is such a wide and varied choice and all are so different, eventually I had to pick one. After many minutes of deliberation I picked "Yoga Bomb". In my opinion it smells like sherbet, melon and bananas (I'm really selling this aren't I?) However, Lush say it has ingredients and scents in it such as Oil banum and Ho wood oil.

Not only do you feel special about having your new bath bomb with your Lush description sticker you really feel like you have a bag of loveliness!

The bath bomb is bright orange in colour with a green line around the middle giving you a sneak peek of what might happen when this bath bomb is unleashed into a warm, cosy bath. Lush bath bombs make bath time even more exciting and I genuinely was counting down the hours till I could try it out!

Once put into a toasty bath, the bath bomb swirls and fizzes and kind of reminds me of fireworks popping and unleashing in the sky into all different colours. At first the bath bomb appears orange turning your bath the brightest orange you have ever seen. But! The bath bomb then pops and outcomes gold glitter, green, purple and pink colouring turning your normal bathroom bathtub into a magical, sparkly princess bath.

The bomb leaves your skin feeling super soft and hydrated and you really do feel great when you come out of the bath! Furthermore, this particular bath bomb is designed to put you into a tranquil state of mind. unwind you and make you feel calm (as if you have been doing yoga) and it really does do this!

To round off....
Although relatively expensive in price (£3.95 for yoga bomb) I feel the products are worth it!
However,
I would definitely recommend this bath bomb to de-stress, re -wind or just to chill in before bedtime and of course I would also recommend any of the other Lush bath bombs or products!

Here is a little DIY bath bomb you can make yourselves at home!

You will need :
  • ½ cup of powdered citric acid
  • 1 cup of baking soda
  • ¾ cup of cornstarch
  • Food colouring
  • Essential oils.
Combine all dry ingredients first (you may need to add some water to soften the mixture). Leave the fun stuff till last this being the colouring and essences (I've found rose and orange oil are very nice!) Roll mixture into desired shape and put into a mould to set / dry overnight. Once set, run yourself a warm, cosy bath and unleash your bath bomb!
